February and March

We have been working hard. We had a snowman unit, a penguin unit, a Valentines Day unit. This month we are working on: "All about Me!, Friends, and Family" units. We are learning what it takes to be a friend. Here are some of the books we are reading: Madeline, The Berenstain Bears Go out for the Team, The Three Sillies, Berenstain Bears and the Bully, Do you Want to be my Friend (Eric Carle), When Grandpa Visists, Always room for one More, A Chair for my Mother, Don't Wake up Mama, Just Grandma and Me (Mercer Mayer), Grand Dad, Life with Papa, Amelia Bedelia's Family Album, Are You My Mother? The Seven Silly Eaters, and the Berenstain Bears: Blame Game, Trouble with Grown Ups, The Truth, The Messy Room, The Bad Dream, Too Much Teasing. And the greatest book in our unit, "The Relatives". It is a story of when the relatives came for a week long trip and how messy the house got, how funny the stories were and how much hugging was happening when they came and left. Beautiful artwork!

We are making things such as books about friendship, coloring and cutting people's faces (out of cardstock and taping them onto popsicle sticks), for our family members, glueing different kinds of noodles onto a (cardstock) body to make 'boys and girls' with google eyes and yarn hair. We also made some friendship chains with words to teach us how to be a good friend in 3 different colors to make a ABC pattern.

So, come and join us for fun at preschool.

This summer we will be offering 3 different summer camps for children ages 3-8. In June, "We're Buggin'", in July, Science with water and Bubbles, in August, Music, Dance and Drama. So sign up now for the Summer fun. Summer camps are $60.00 for a full week Mon. - Fri. from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Pack a sack lunch for your child(ren).

See ya soon!

Thanksgiving Unit

Here are some pictures of Thanksgiving unit. Scott and Natalie are having a tea party. They made movable turkeys that they cut out with assist. Scott is coloring pictures to glue onto a table for a Thanksgiving feast.

January - Snow and Snowmen Unit

This week we are making snowflakes, then painting over them onto colored construction paper. We are then glueing shapes: large, medium and small to make a snowman. Then we decorate our snowman with paint and sprinkle with Epson salt for a "snowy" look. Then we put buttons, eyes, hat and scarf on our snowman.

One of our songs is: Once There was a Snowman - We do it with actions.

Books for our unit are:
Friendly Snowman, Frosty the Snowman, Winter is here, The Jacket I wear in the Snow, Thomas' Snowsuit, The Mitten (book and flannel board story), Snow.

Is your preschooler bored at home?

January features themes such as Penguins, snow, snowmen, snowflakes, etc. We will be painting, coloring, cutting and glueing a little each day! Daily in opening circle, we are learning our nursery rhymes, working on our calendar, deciding the weather, and other concepts: one color, one shape, one animal group and one season. We sing, and read two books every day. During free time, the children enjoy: blocks, kitchen, puzzles, playdough (home made of course), cars, dinosaurs, castles and people, doll house, lacing and many more fun things. Each day, we put on some music, grab an instrument and dance around the room. The children hate to go home because we are having such a fun time. Come join us!
